Security
The Ten Commandments of Security
1. Secure your computer and mobile devices
Install an antivirus program on all your devices where you use internet banking, personal email, and similar services. Don’t forget to update this program regularly.
2. Regularly update your devices and use only supported browser versions
Use only genuine operating systems and update them whenever a new version is released. Do not make changes to the operating system that grant full administrative access (such as root or jailbreak). Do not buy or use such modified devices.
3. Do not download applications from unverified sources
Install applications only from official stores such as Google Play, the App Store, or other authorized stores of your device manufacturer. Avoid installing programs from unofficial sources.
4. Never share your login details and create a strong password
To ensure your password is strong enough, it should ideally be at least 12 characters long and contain a combination of numbers, letters, and special symbols (e.g., !, *, etc.).
5. Always access your internet banking only through verified addresses (www.jtbanka.sk) to avoid fake banking sites
Add your bank’s website (www.jtbanka.sk) to your list of favorites and always check that the connection is secured with a valid certificate (via the padlock icon in your browser’s address bar).
For the Internet Banking portal, the security certificate looks as follows:
6. PHISHING – If you receive an email with an attachment or a link that seems suspicious, do not click on it. Do not open such unsolicited emails
Ignore emails from unknown senders or those with suspicious subjects or content. Never open their attachments or click on any links inside. Such emails often pretend to offer popular content (like illegal software or adult material) to lure users. Use spam protection in your email inbox.
7. VISHING – No bank will ever ask you to provide your full internet banking login details over the phone or by email. Stay vigilant
Your bank will never ask you for your complete internet banking credentials (username and password) or full payment card details (including the CVV code) via phone or email. The bank does not need this information even when verifying a transaction as part of security monitoring.
8. Do not log in to internet banking via public Wi-Fi
Do not log in to internet banking or make payments from publicly accessible devices (e.g., computers in internet cafés), from devices you do not own, or through which another person may access your applications. Always use trusted Wi-Fi networks or your mobile operator’s data. Open Wi-Fi networks can expose you to eavesdropping, redirection, or misuse of your personal security data.
9. Use transaction notifications and regularly check your account statements
Use the transaction notification service. Be careful what you confirm via SMS. Regularly review your account activity. If you’re uncertain about a transaction, contact us as soon as possible.
10. If something doesn’t seem right, contact us
If you notice anything suspicious, let us know. We’ll verify whether it’s a fraud attempt. Your report will also help us improve future protection measures.
Announcements
Beware of fake phone calls!
Have you been called about unusually profitable investments or received a similar offer via social networks?
Be alert and don’t fall for potential fraud. Always verify who you are communicating with or consult your bank.
Never click on links related to offers of highly advantageous or unrealistic investments. Never share your internet banking login credentials with anyone. Carefully read verification SMS messages for payments and always check where your money is going.
Under no circumstances should you be persuaded to install programs or applications that could allow attackers to access your computer. Through such means, they can steal your personal data or transfer your funds under false pretenses.
If you have any doubts, please contact us via the Comfort Line or your personal banker.
